QUALITY & ENVIRONMENT

QUALITY STATEMENT

Spacecraft has been assessed and certified as meeting the requirements of both ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. This certification confirms our focus on customer service and the desire to meet and exceed customer requirements.

We are committed to delivering products and services to our customers on time, on budget and with the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction – our aim is to exceed customer expectations. Our responsibility is to continuously monitor the quality of the products sourced through our manufacturing partners. We strive to improve the processes, services and staff performance. Our responsibility does not end at delivery and installation and we are committed to providing ongoing high levels of after sales service and support to maintain productive customer relationships.

OUR MANUFACTURING PARTNERS

Spacecraft endeavours to continuously improve our product supply chain and works closely with all our manufacturing partners to ensure this happens. We strive to deliver exceptional product solutions to our customers, built to quality standards and under strict quality procedures. Our goal is to work with our clients to provide them with high quality product solutions which are built to stand the test of time.

  • We work with manufacturers who implement stringent quality procedures and provide consistency in terms of product durability, quality and delivery.
  • We work closely with our manufacturing partners to ensure the accurate specification, pricing and on-time delivery of products.
  • We work with both domestic and international manufacturers certified under ISO 9001 – the globally recognised standard for defining organizations’ quality management systems.
  • Spacecraft strive to work with manufacturers whom enforce stringent criteria for the selection and procurement of raw materials and component supplies.
  • Our manufacturing partners are required to maintain high quality standards while supporting the need to provide competitively-priced products.
  • We work mainly with manufacturers whose facilities are ISO 140001 certified – the globally recognised set of standards that help organizations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment.
  • We actively encourage and promote the specification and procurement of manufacturers products that have undergone third-party environmental certification, i.e. FSC, Greenguard, SMaRT and LEED.

BUILDING RATING SYSTEMS

Spacecraft has worked on numerous projects where the furniture products have been required to meet specific environmental criteria, i.e. percentage of recycled and recyclable content and lifecycle.  We have worked with clients to deliver LEED, SKA and BREEAM rated projects. Spacecraft believe that the emphasis of sustainability and life-cycle of products should be a prerequisite and at the heart of any furniture specification and selection process. Spacecraft will also work with all manufacturers to ensure that all packaging and materials are recycled post-delivery.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Spacecraft is an equal opportunity employer. Our equal opportunity policy covers all aspects of employment, from vacancy advertising, selection recruitment and training to conditions of service and reasons for termination of employment.

To ensure that this policy is operating effectively (and for no other purpose) Spacecraft maintains records of employees’ and applicants’ racial origins, gender and disability. Ongoing monitoring and regular analysis of such records provide the basis for appropriate action to eliminate unlawful direct and indirect discrimination and promote equality of opportunity. Spacecraft’s long-term aim is that the composition of our workforce should reflect that of the community.

MODERN SLAVERY ACT

Spacecraft is committed to eliminating acts of modern day slavery and human trafficking within its business and supply chain, including sub-contractors.

Our supplier approval process incorporates a review of the controls undertaken by said supplier in this regard. Imported goods from sources outside the UK and EU are considered to be potentially more at risk for slavery and/or human trafficking issues, with the level of management control required for these sources monitored for ongoing effectiveness.

Formal procedures established to implement the Modern Slavery Act 2015 include education and awareness within the company and approval and disciplinary procedures for sub-contractors and suppliers.

This Policy is considered to support the policies, procedures and requirements documented in Spacecraft’s Quality Management System, compliant with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015.

SUSTAINABILITY & THE ENVIRONMENT

Spacecraft strives to work with manufacturers that have sustainability and the environment at the heart of their business ethics. We believe that sustainability and the environment should be a prerequisite and at the heart of any furniture manufacturing and selection process.  As a market leading contract furniture dealer, we try and minimise our impact on the environment in any way we can.

We have worked on numerous projects where the furniture has been required to meet specific environmental criteria, i.e. strict manufacturing conditions, percentage of recycled and recyclable content.  We have delivered LEED, SKA and BREEAM rated projects. Spacecraft can assist clients and architects with their due diligence in terms of ensuring manufacturers are able to provide the correct sustainability credentials for their products.

As a furniture dealer, there are five main areas of environmental responsibility:

  • Working with furniture suppliers who employ responsible manufacturing methods with respect to the production methods, procurement, energy usage and waste disposal in the production process (from the raw materials through to the complete products delivered to site).
  • Ensuring packaging is minimal and fully recyclable, whilst ensuring integrity of product protection.
  • Packaging product efficiently to reduce transportation volume.
  • Transporting product in the most carbon efficient way possible, accounting for the logistical constraints of the site.
  • Considering the longevity of supplied products and their recyclable content once they come to the end of their useful life.

Where possible all products provided to this project will be produced in manufacturing facilities operating under the auspices of ISO 14001 environmental management system. As such procurement of raw materials, energy usage, waste production and management, packaging and delivery methods are controlled by the guiding principles of this EMS. All metal components will be procured as raw materials under 14001 guidelines and all wood components ‘where possible’ will be FSC certified and CoC stamped.

All deliveries will be calculated to allow the minimum number of vehicles to be used to deliver product to site whilst adhering to the delivery restrictions.

Spacecraft will work with all manufacturers and the installation team to ensure that all packaging and materials are disposed of and recycled responsibly post delivery and installation.

Sustainability of the overall project will be aided by the quality of the products provided and consequently the warranty and continuity guarantees expected of them and the high recyclable content of the products provided. Most raw materials delivered to site will be eligible for recycling and re-use once the products provided are no longer required for their initially purchased use.
